Week 4 Overview

Hello!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. This Michigan girl really enjoyed the rain and clouds! This will be a bit of an odd week, because we have AZMerit testing on Tuesday and Thursday morning. Our students will not have homework on Monday or Wednesday night so they will be able to rest and relax before these important tests. Additionally, this weekend is an R&R weekend, so our students won't have homework on Friday, either! We hope this will allow your families a chance to rest and recuperate from our normal workload and from AZMerit!

Despite taking time out of our normal schedule for testing, we still have a busy week ahead of us. We're starting a new unit in Science: the circulatory system. I loved studying the workings of human anatomy in high school and college and I'm looking forward to exciting that same passion in our classroom!

We have a Math test on Wednesday over the geometry our class has learned so far. We will also be practicing finding the perimeter and the area of oddly-shaped (but still rectangular) figures. In History, we're reviewing for a history test next week over the events leading up to the Revolutionary War.

In Language Arts, we are continuing our discussion of explanatory writing. Our students are honing their organizational skills in preparation for writing an explanatory essay later in the quarter about a Revolutionary War topic. In Literature, we're continuing to read Carry On, Mr. Bowditch. I have loved learning about the life of Nathaniel Bowditch with our students. I hope this book is inspiring our class to "sail by ash breeze"!

Have a great week!
