Week 5 Overview

Hello!

Now that we're all done with AZMerit, we're back to our regularly scheduled programming in the classroom. We are so proud about how our students comported themselves during their state tests last week. Their scholarly demeanor showed that they were serious about proving that 4B is 4 Best!

We have a couple of tests coming up this week. On Tuesday, we have a test in History over the events leading up to the American Revolution and on Wednesday, we have a test in Literature over the events of Carry On, Mr. Bowditch, chapters 1-8. Our students have had a chance to study for both of these tests in class and we are confident of their ability to succeed on both of these assessments.

We're making great progress in other subjects. In Grammar today, Ms. Walls introduced sentences with indirect objects. Though this is a complex idea, our students rose to the challenge and by lunchtime, were delighting in asking questions that contained indirect objects.

In Math, our students are moving on in Geometry to find the areas and perimeters of larger and more oddly-shaped figures. They are becoming very adept at using graph paper to find areas and perimeters in class.

In Science, we are continuing our study of the circulatory system. I have to admit that of all the interesting things we've covered in science this year, this is definitely my favorite. Last Friday, the class and I had a fascinating discussion of the various roles blood plays in our body. It is so exciting to share my own fascination with human anatomy with our students!

Have a great week!
