Week 9 Updates

Hello 4B Families!

Wow, the last week of the first quarter is already here!  Please make sure you have signed up for a conference, as they are mandatory.  Just a final reminder, students can start logging in hours for the Read-a-Thon.  Each sponsor they get is a step closer to some of the spectacular incentives.

As I am sure your scholars have been excitedly reminding you, Friday is a half day.  We will be taking a history quiz and completing the study guide in class on Thursday.  It is a very brief quiz with a few vocabulary words and a few short answer questions.  I am very confident that everyone will be more than prepared.

On Thursday, we will be concluding our geology unit with a quiz on volcanoes, geysers, and mountains.  The students have been completing the study guides and the last page will be tomorrow's homework.  We will spend Wednesday reviewing the answers.

By Thursday, we will be finished with chapter 7 of Prince Caspian.  Once we return from Fall Break, we will spend Wednesday and Thursday reviewing and take a quiz Friday, October 21.

In math, we have started fractions.  There was no small amount of trepidation as we explored this unfamiliar terrain, but I was very pleased with how well your scholars took to it.  We will spend a lot of time practicing this concept together, so there will be plenty of time to become familiar with it.

I know we will have a great week and I hope your scholars enjoy a well-deserved break next week!
